Welcome to THE TRUE NORTH COLLECTIVE℠ PODCAST: SEASON 3! With co-hosts Rachel Bellotti (she/her) and Jenell Riesner (she/her), this is a gathering of un-sugar-coated conversations celebrating the untold stories of everyday people fearlessly finding and living their true north.

In our own search to discover and live from our TRUE NORTH, we continue to meet many interesting, courageous people from all walks of life, doing all sorts of amazing things to live life in their own unique way. Stories from all over the world. Stories with heart. Stories with grit. Stories with plot twists. Stories going untold - until now. This season, we celebrate these untold stories of everyday people who are fearlessly living their true north and inspiring each of us to do the same.

Today, we have part 2 of our “body talk” conversation with Maaia Geis (she/her), a virtual friend from Regina in Saskatchewan, former spin instructor, interested in psychology with a focus in neuroscience, and currently working on a coaching certification with a program called Becoming a Soul Coach. We talk about exercising from ego vs soul, ignoring our body’s warning signals to save face, listening to inner experiential data vs hard analytical + comparative data, and sexual health. We kind of go all over the map, but if you can follow the thread, we land on an invitation to show up genuinely as the real you so that we can all create a more real and connected world.

3 KEY TAKEAWAYS:

  1. When the data doesn’t match the feeling, what do you go with? Have you ever experienced doing something and having it feel AMAZING, almost spiritual, and then you look at your speed or you get a grade or a critique or feedback that just doesn’t capture the impact that the experience had within you on its own? What do you do with those seemingly opposing pieces of information? Who do you trust? In our efforts to always be improving, where have we lost the ability to honor the magic of experiences for what they are? To honor the feelings we have. To honor the sense of accomplishment vs only focusing on how we match up to other people. What if we shifted the conversation to ask about people’s first-hand experiences of a thing as the go-to curiosity vs where they ranked? How might we experience the world differently if we started looking at the world in this way?
  2. The importance of talking about what is actually going on vs covering it up + continuing to push through things that aren’t working for you is paramount to wellness + well-being. Injuries (physical, emotional, psychological, etc) don’t really go away until we actually face them + address them. And our bodies will keep yelling louder + louder + manifest in other ways until we actually pay attention + listen. Plus, when we talk about it, we usually discover that we are NOT alone + we realize that our shares can be a point of connection to others who may also be hiding.
  3. Notice when you are consuming reality vs curated storytelling in social media + movies + society and how that impacts you. Also, notice what you tend to create and put out into the world…is it your reality or is it modified? What are you modified? What are you trying to portray? What if we were a stand for the real vs perpetuating fake, modified, untrue life + expectations that are not universally achievable? How might we change our own world and the world around us to be really real?
